Cameras are rolling in Limerick on a major wartime drama starring The OC and Nobody Wants This actor Adam Brody.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Whit Stillman's A Night at Claridge's is set to film across Limerick and Clare over the next six weeks, with production due to continue until mid-December.

Filming got under way this week on Cecil Street and Hartstonge Street in Limerick city, with a number of road closures scheduled throughout November as crews transform parts of the city for the period production.

Brody leads the cast alongside Downton Abbey star Laura Carmichael.

Actors and crew will stay locally during the shoot, providing another boost for the region's growing film industry.

The project reunites Stillman with Brody following their previous collaborations on Damsels in Distress and The Cosmopolitans.

A Night at Claridge’s is produced by Nathalie Lichtenthaeler of Wide Eye Films, whose recent production Once Upon a Time in a Cinema was filmed in Limerick and released this year.

A Night at Claridge's follows Laura Carmichael's character, Miss Roach, who leaves Blitz-hit London for a boarding house where she finds herself caught between Brody's charming American officer and a jealous rival.

The production marks the latest major screen project to choose the Mid-West as a filming location.

Paul C Ryan, regional film manager at Film in Limerick, said it is great to see cameras rolling again in the city.

“We are delighted to welcome Whit Stillman, Nathalie Lichtenthaeler, and the entire cast and crew to the region for this exciting production. We wish everyone involved a successful shoot in Limerick and Clare.

“Limerick and the wider Mid-West have much to offer film productions, from our diverse range of locations to our highly skilled crew and experienced local screen industry.

"Having Wide Eye Films return to the region is a strong endorsement of the talent, expertise, and production support available here,” Mr Ryan said.
