Boarding pass ‘rip-off’

IT is misleading for Michael O’Leary to claim Ryanair will impose a €100 “fine” on passengers who have not printed their boarding passes (November 9).

This implies a punishment handed out by a legal authority. It is not a fine, nor is it a charge. Under consumer legislation a charge must relate to the cost. It is just another scam dreamt up by Ryanair to rip off passengers. This is particularly galling when problems with the Ryanair website prevent one from printing the boarding pass.

Heaven forbid Ryanair’s monopoly should ever be complete. If so, fares will rocket. If the Government serves any useful purpose at all it should prosecute Ryanair and fine them under consumer legislation.
