Why did McGuinness not speak out sooner?
But two things spring to mind. Firstly, why did it take him until now to voice his opinion of the Tánaiste? Could he not have spoken out sooner?
Did he really have to lose his job as junior minister to loosen his tongue. Secondly, he must surely be suffering from political amnesia.
Like many others, I would not agree with him that Mary Coughlan was such a wonderful Minister for Agriculture. After all, she presided over the closure of the sugar beet industry in this country. Just ask anyone in east Cork about the huge loss of the Mallow beet factory and all the employment and business it created locally and they will be more than willing to remind Mr Mc Guinness of Ms Coughlan’s record as agriculture minister.
How glad the Government would be of all those jobs in the current economic climate?
