Columnist with many irons in the fire

ONCE again I opened the Irish Examiner last Thursday to see your columnist Ivan Yates beaming out at me.

Earlier last week he graced the panel on the Ryan Tubridy radio show, one of the many times he has been a panellist on RTÉ recently.

Now I don’t know Mr Yates or the sky above him but he appears to be an affable and engaging character.

However, would I be correct in assuming he draws a ministerial pension together with a TD’s pension funded by the taxpayer? Is it not true that he also owns a number of betting offices?

Surely double-jobbing in a recession is to be frowned upon, but is the Irish Examiner not providing Mr Yeats with a fifth source of income?
