€140,000 worth of cocaine and more than €25,000 in cash were allegedly seized outside Cork City in Killeens by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and now an accused man has appeared at Cork District Court.

41-year-old Farid Fawzi of Coneybeg, Rathpeacon, County Cork, is charged with having cocaine and possession of the drugs for sale or supply at Rathpeacon, Killeens, County Cork, on June 2.

He is also charged by Detective Garda Gavin Curran with money-laundering by allegedly having €25,950 cash, knowing or being reckless as to whether it was the proceeds of criminal conduct at the same date and place.

Det. Garda Curran said the Director of Public Prosecutions directed trial by indictment at Cork Circuit Criminal Court and also consented to a signed plea of guilty being entered at the district court for sentencing at the circuit court, should that arise.

Stephen Cotter said a long adjournment was sought by the defence to allow time for instructions to be taken in what he described as a complex matter.

Judge David Waters adjourned the case until December 3 to allow time for the defence to decide on the approach to be taken.
