Bus and rail driven by different attitudes

THE flexibility of NBRU drivers in Dublin Bus is something to behold and must be a first in Irish industrial relations history.

Dublin Bus management must be greatly satisfied that their drivers will take any bus anywhere at any time (especially if their action results in private sector workers losing their jobs). Meanwhile, management in Kent railway station in Cork can only look on in envy at their Dublin Bus counterparts. Kent station management appears to have extreme difficulty getting any NBRU driver to take any train anywhere at any time. Could this be a result of Irish Rail having no private sector competition to destroy, or am I being just a little cynical?
