EU laws are not made by parliament members

RECENTLY I read the advice by pro-Lisbon supporters that to defend important moral issues like pro-life, we should elect politicians who will uphold a Christian ethos to the European parliament.

But European law emanates not from the parliament but from the Council of Ministers and the European Court, neither of which is elected.

Even worse, Declaration 17 of the Lisbon treaty clearly states that EU law will have primacy over the Irish constitution in the areas covered by the treaty.
