A cyclist has died following a collision involving a van on a road in Co Clare on Friday night.

The male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on the N67 at Baunmore, Kilrush, at approximately 8pm on October 9.

The van driver, a man in his 30s, was uninjured in the incident.

The cyclist’s body has since been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where an autopsy will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified.

The road remains closed, with local diversions in place.

Garda appeal 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the fatal crash to come forward.

Anyone who was travelling in the Baunmore area between 7.15pm and 8.15pm on Friday and may have information is asked to contact investigating gardaí.

Road users with camera footage, including dashcam recordings or mobile phone footage, are also being asked to make it available to gardaí.
