Gardaí seize Ferrari in Cork City as the €130,000 vehicle had no tax or insurance

Gardaí in Cork are reminding drivers that the rules of the road “apply to everyone” following the seizure of a Ferrari supercar on Sunday.

While on patrol in Cork City, members of the Roads Policing Unit stopped a driver on the Carrigrohane Rd — known as the 'Straight Road' — who was travelling in what is understood to be a convertible Ferrari F430 Spider.

Following an inspection of the Italian supercar — with a price point that can reach between €130,000 and €190,000 for a secondhand model — gardaí found that the driver was operating the vehicle without valid insurance, motor tax, or NCT.

It was also found that the vehicle had no valid Irish registration, despite being in Ireland for more than four years.

A Garda spokesperson said in a post shared on social media that the driver had been “avoiding more than just speed bumps”.

“This Ferrari certainly turned heads while out for a spin, but unfortunately, it also caught the attention of Cork City Roads Policing Unit,” the spokesperson said.

“Remember, no matter what’s on the bonnet, Ferrari, Fiat, or Ford, the rules of the road apply to everyone.”
