A woman has expressed concerns regarding the accessibility of concerts after trying to secure an interpreter for her deaf sister.
Since February, Sarah O’Neill and her family have been asking organisers for an Irish Sign Language interpreter for the Lewis Capaldi concert taking place in Limerick's Thomond Park this Friday.
Ms O’Neill, who works with Enable Ireland Limerick, said she has been contacting the organisers to seek an ISL interpreter for her sister Kate, and for her service user Erin, who is also deaf and uses a wheelchair.
“We have been applying for an interpreter since February 2026, emailing over and back to Ticketmaster, MCD and the interpreting service, we also contacted Thomond Park, and we haven’t got answers from them,” she wrote on social media.
Ms O’Neill added it should “never be this hard” to request accessibility.
“Myself and my sister both had our tickets hoping we would be moved down to where the interpreter would be, but unfortunately, we are now trying to sell those tickets back to Ticketmaster, and have bought standing tickets so we will be together.
“To say I am horrified with the way the deaf community are being treated is an understatement."
She said "it should never be this hard", and asked: "If anyone has any advice or know how we can solve this issue before Friday, I would really appreciate it".
Concert promoters MCD, Ticketmaster, and Thomond Park have been contacted for comment by the .
Last year, a sign interpreter was praised by gig-goers after going viral for her interpretation of Oasis’ Dublin gig. Videos shared by fans attending the Croke Park gigs showed the interpreter signing for hearing-impaired fans.
The footage quickly went viral because of her enthusiasm as she signed to the song Morning Glory.
