Bid to exhume remains of man buried in West Cork 'whose name is known to God alone'

A body of a man who drowned in the Lee Fields in Cork in 1999 is to be exhumed to see if a DNA match can be found.

An application has been made for a ministerial order that would allow the exhumation of an unidentified man buried in West Cork for DNA sampling.

The remains of the man are buried in a plot in Bandon’s St Patrick’s Cemetery. A gravestone reads: “Pray for the soul of a man whose name is known to God alone, interred here on the 25th of October 1999.”
