Cork city centre has flooded for the third evening in a row.

Streets including Union Quay, South Mall and Oliver Plunkett Street experienced flooding at high tide this evening, according to gardaí.

Lavitt’s Quay and South Terrace were both reduced to one lane.

Cork City Council said that Union Quay was closed to traffic. It has since reopened.

Earlier today, the council advised that tidal flooding ws expected in low-lying areas at high tide this evening, at 6.22pm. Motorists were advised that Wandesford Quay and Sharman Crawford Street would be closed from 5.30 pm this evening.

Flooding also occurred in the city centre on Saturday and Sunday evenings at high tide.
