Cork weather and traffic: Rain and sunny spells expected with highs of up to 17C

It will stay dry for the rest of the night, with plenty of clear spells; however, scattered showers will develop in the west of Munster later. Temperatures will reach as low as 9C. 

Rain and drizzle will start the day on Friday across Cork before it starts to clear, bringing sunny spells and highs of 14C to 17C.

Saturday will start off dry and bright with a mix of sunny spells and isolated showers which will become more frequent in the northwest of the province later. Highs of 15C to 19C are set in store. 

Clear spells will take over Saturday night, with cloud building overnight as rain develops in western and southern areas, some turning heavy at times. 

Traffic 

As of 7.15am, traffic is light across various parts of the main roads coming into the city. 

The N28 is seeing some congestion; however, motorists are passing through with no delays. 

Outlook

It will be generally cloudy on Sunday with outbreaks of rain for many, possibly turning heavy in some places. It will then start to clear, bringing scattered showers and sunny spells by the afternoon. Highs of 14C to 18C are expected. 

It will stay clear with some outbreaks of rain and drizzle on Sunday night; however, it will become much cooler with temperatures dropping as low as 6C. 

Looking into next week, Monday will be a drier and brighter day for many. However, patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle may develop through the afternoon along Atlantic coasts. Highs of 14C to 17C are expected. 

Tuesday will then be a wet and blustery day with widespread rain, possibly becoming heavy at times, with highs of 16C to 19C.
