A suspected €500,000 cannabis seizure in January resulted in a 33-year-old woman being brought before Cork District Court on Wednesday.

Detective Garda Rory Fogarty formally arrested 33-year-old Terri O’Hara of Imaal Court, The Glen, Cork, and charged her with four counts under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

She was charged with possession of cannabis and cocaine and having both drugs for the purpose of sale or supply at her home on January 22.

The value of the cannabis was put at €500,000 and the cocaine at €1,200, subject to analysis, Det. Garda Fogarty said.

Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case, on the application of Sergeant John Kelleher, until June 8 to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Det. Garda Fogarty said there was no objection to the accused being remanded on bail on agreed conditions. He said others were charged with the same seizure and that she was not the main party allegedly involved in the matter.

Those conditions require her to sign on at the Bridewell garda station on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, provide gardaí with a phone number at which she is contactable at all time by members of An Garda Síochána, not to apply for travel documents and not to leave the jurisdiction.

Judge Dorgan made it €5,000 bail but no cash lodgment was required. The case was adjourned until June 8 to allow time for directions from the DPP.

Ms O’Hara is on Job Seekers Allowance, solicitor Frank Buttimer said as he was appointed on free legal aid.
