Consultants call for change to system of discharging patients from hospitals

Consultants have called for a change in how patients are discharged from hospitals to reduce overcrowding and improve efficiency.

The Irish Hospital Consultants Association said a system called “criteria-led discharging” has seen weekend discharge rates increase by 55% at NHS hospitals.
