Sunny spells due as Met Éireann predicts temperatures of 22C this week

The country is expected to enjoy some good sunshine this week, with temperatures gradually rising and Met Éireann predicting highs of up to 22C.
The forecaster says “sunny spells” along with the odd spot of drizzle, are on the cards for Monday, with highest temperatures of 17C to 21C today.
Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather said the forecast indicated a “good day and week ahead”.
Monday night is expected to be “largely dry with clear spells”, with temperatures expected to drop overnight.
“Lowest temperatures ranging from 6 or 7 degrees in the southeast to 13 or 14 degrees in the northwest,” the forecaster said.
The sunshine is to continue into Tuesday, with “improving sunshine” as the week progresses, which will coincide with the beginning of the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co Laois.
Temperatures are expected to reach 22C, with cooler temperatures forecast for the east and warmer weather in the midlands and west.
“Tuesday night will be dry with clear spells. Some mist may form near dawn and will clear quickly with the sunrise.”
“Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will all be dry with sunny spells and light easterly winds, temperatures will range between 17 and 21 degrees, coolest along east-facing coasts,” the forecaster said.
“Night-time temperatures will be down to 7 to 11 degrees with clear spells and light breezes allowing a little mist or fog around dawn.”
For the weekend, temperatures look set to drop back to the mid to high teens with some showers forecast.
