Met Éireann warns of heat stress as temperatures climb above 27C

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow high temperature warning for Leinster and Tipperary, which came into effect at 6am this morning and is vailed until 6am on Friday.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach more than 27C, combined with night-time minimum temperatures in excess of 15C.

Met Éireann added that potential impacts during the high-temperature warning include heat stress, animal welfare issues, water safety issues due to increased use of beaches, lakes and rivers, and uncomfortable sleeping conditions.

Outlook for Munster 

Today will be cloudy across the west of Munster, with outbreaks of rain or drizzle, along with some mist and fog developing on hills and in coastal areas.

It will be brighter further east, with sunny spells and isolated showers.

Overall, it will be a warm and humid day, with highest temperatures of 20C to 27C.

Tonight will continue to be mostly cloudy across the west of Munster, with patchy rain and drizzle.

It will be drier further east, with variable cloud and clear spells, along with areas of mist and fog also developing.

It will be another mild and muggy night across the region, with lowest temperatures of 15C to 19C.

Tomorrow will be another warm and hot day, with sunny spells and well-scattered showers.

A few of the showers could be heavy, with an isolated thunderstorm possible.

Met Éireann has forecast that the highest temperatures for tomorrow will be between 20C and 27C.
