Gardaí say they have been contacted more than 160 times in relation to allegations of historical abuse in the country's religious-run schools.
The contacts were made since gardaí issued an appeal on Wednesday for anyone affected by the scandal to come forward. It followed the release of the Government’s long-awaited scoping inquiry report into sexual abuse at religious-run boarding and day-schools.
