Man, 40s, injured in Offaly crash dies in hospital

A man his died from injuries he sustained in a crash in Offaly earlier this month. 

The two vehicle collision happened on the R401 at Coolygagen at approximately 8.50am on Wednesday, February 14.

A passenger in one of vehicles involved, a man in his 40s, was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment of serious injuries. Gardaí confirmed on Thursday that he died from his injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, a woman in her 40s, was also taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment for serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening. 

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision.

Any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling on the R401 in the Coolygagen area, between 8am and 9am on Wednesday, February 14 have been asked to make this footage available.
