Two Status Yellow wind warnings have been issued for Thursday with the entire country being impacted.
The two Met Éireann warnings both come into effect at 12am on Thursday and will be in place until 8pm.
The first warning — for Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Cavan, Monaghan and all of Leinster — will see strong northwest winds at times with high waves also expected.
Indeed, winds are expected to reach near gale force for a time in the north and northwest.
The second warning will impact Clare, Kerry, Donegal and all of Connacht.
The high winds will also bring the potential for loose debris and the displacement of loose objects, Met Éireann says, and motorists and cyclists have been warned of potentially hazardous travelling conditions throughout the day tomorrow.
Overall, Thursday is forecast to be a generally cloudy day in most areas, with a little rain and drizzle likely to fall in the afternoon. Northern counties will be somewhat brighter however, with sunnier spells extending southwards as the day goes on.
Temperatures tomorrow will be relatively mild, ranging from 9C to 12C.
The outlook heading into the weekend shows that it will be milder than normal up to and including Christmas Eve.
It will be "very mild for a time on Christmas Eve and it'll be blustery with some rain and drizzle at times".
"Becoming cooler on Christmas Eve night, with temperatures returning closer to the seasonal normal."
