Dry weather, bright sunny spells to dominate weekend

Dry weather with bright sunny intervals will dominate the weekend, with Met Éireann forecasting temperatures could reach as high as 24C. 

However, outbreaks of rain and drizzle will come in later on Sunday before it starts to clear again. 

Friday started dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, although there may be the odd light shower. Highs of 16C to 24C are set for the day, with the warmest weather expected in Leinster. 

Dry and clear spells will continue on Friday night, mainly over Munster and Leinster, with lows of between 8C and 13C. 

Saturday will be mostly cloudy in west Munster, Connacht and Ulster with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, moving into Leinster towards the evening. Much of Leinster and Munster will be largely dry with bright and sunny spells. Highs of 16C to 20C in Connacht and Ulster and 20C to 25C in Leinster and Munster. 

It will be mild and mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mainly in Ulster, whereas in the south, there will be some decent dry intervals. Temperatures will not fall below 11C. 

Sunday then will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving slowly southeastwards before it eventually starts to clear up. Highs of 16C to 24C are expected for the day. 

It will stay mainly dry with clear spells on Sunday night; however, it will be quite cool with lows of 9C to 14C. 

Next week

Looking into next week, Monday will be mainly dry with a mix of cloud, sunny spells and a few showers. Highs of 17C to 22C are set for the day. 

Tuesday will be warm with similar conditions; however, rain will develop in the west in the evening and early night. Daytime highs of 21C to 25C are expected. 

Looking further into the week, Wednesday will be warm and humid with outbreaks of rain moving slowly eastwards. Temperatures will climb up as high as 27C. 

Thursday and Friday look like they will be a bit cooler and fresher with a fair amount of dry weather, some rain or showers at times.
