Budget planning 'like taking a penalty kick with the goal posts moving'

Fianna Fáil say trying to plan a budget with this government is like taking a penalty kick with the goal posts moving.

Michael McGrath's comments come as it's reported there may be €200m more to spend than the government predicted.

It would mean Finance Minister Michael Noonan has €1.2bn to work with in next Tuesday's budget.

Fianna Fáil's Michael McGrath says it makes it difficult for them to form accurate proposals.

"We are in a unique situation, it's a very different position to find ourselves in compared to the last five years.

"We have an agreement in place, a confidence and supply agreement, and we have been very clear to the government as to what our priorities are."
