Seeing a respite from the rain? Not for long (sorry)
People are being encouraged to enjoy the brief reprieve from the relentless rain today as more wet and windy weather is on the way.
Heavy rain is expected to batter Ireland tomorrow morning and forecasters from Met Éireann and the UK's Met Office are liasing to determine the threat, if any, posed by Storm Frank.
AA Ireland is also reporting spot flooding and treacherous conditions in parts of Cork, Clare, Tipperary, Galway, Leitrim and Mayo and are urging motorists to slow down and allow plenty of time for their journeys.
Meanwhile, ESB has increased flow rates through the Parteen Weir for a second day running, as water levels continue to rise on Lough Derg.
Following days of heavy rainfall, the ESB is increasing the flow to 405 cubic metres per second.
At its previous peak, in the days after Storm Desmond, the flow was 440 cubic metres per second.
The ESB is warning that the increased flow means areas downstream in Limerick and Clare may be at risk of flooding.
