Banking Inquiry: Pearse Doherty slams claims of opportunism as 'nonsense'

Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty has described as "nonsense" claims that he is seeking political advantage by refusing to put his name to the Banking Inquiry report.
He and Socialist TD Joe Higgins have said they will not sign the report, which should be published within days.
Deputy Doherty said he had worked as hard as anyone to try to make the report "robust".
"Lucinda Creighton and others have been saying that this is political and opportunistic and all the rest - that's the height of nonsense," he said.
"Any member of that inquiry who is honest with themselves will say that I worked through this process right up until the very end."
Announcing his intention to not sign the report yesterday, Deputy Doherty said: "While the report includes new information, it fails to fully answer the questions regarding how the crisis came about and who was responsible...Our people deserve the full truth. That is why I am unable to not sign off on the committee report."
