Dáil hears complaints about TD's inability to question IBRC inquiry

The Dail has heard complaints that TDs are being stymied in trying to ask questions about the stalled IBRC inquiry.
Several TDs have tried to table Dáil questions about the Department of Finance's role in bringing the inquiry to a halt.
But all of the questions have been ruled out of order, because the Department of Finance is not responsible for the independent inquiry.
Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty has said the Government is more accountable to the media than to the Dáil.
“We are prevented from doing this but you can step out onto the plinth and anybody with NUJ card, anyone who is accredited by the media, can ask the Ministers those questions,” Mr Doherty said.
“But in this house democratically elected TDs are not entitled to ask these questions and the rules are an absolute farce and I think the public see them for what they are.”
