Number of Dublin families in emergency accomodation rising

The Dublin Simon Community has said the number of families in emergency accommodation in Dublin is on the rise.
The organisation has said it is concerned about the increase in the number of children in accommodation up to 1,425, with the number of families now at 677.
The charity says this is 'totally unacceptable'.
Sam McGuinness from the Dublin Simon Community said he is worried about these families and children in the run up to Christmas.
“Figures for October have increased again and it’s nearly 700 families in emergency accommodation coming into November and coming up to Christmas.
“That number doesn’t look like it is going to abate at all. It looks like also there is also nearly 1450 children in emergency accommodation and that doesn’t hold out for a great Christmas for all those suffering people so we would be very concerned about that.”
