Former British soldier still in custody as part of Bloody Sunday investigation
A former British soldier remains in custody in the North this morning as part of the investigation into the Bloody Sunday shootings.
The 66 year-old man was detained in County Antrim yesterday and taken to Belfast for questioning.
The arrest is part of a legacy inquiry into the deaths of thirteen civilians who were killed by the British Parachute Regiment during a civil rights march in Derry's Bogside in January 1972 - a fourteenth man later died of his injuries.
Kate Nash's 19-year-old brother, William, was among those who lost their lives.
“When the policeman first called I was absolutely staggered to be honest with you, desperately shocked, if I could describe it as kind of uncomfortably happy.”
