Family of Michael Dwyer met Bolivian Ministers last night
The family of Michael Dwyer have said they are concerned about the length of time it will take to launch an independent inquiry into his death at the hands of the Bolivian security forces in 2009.
The President of Bolivia Evo Morales, who is on a state visit to Ireland, has offered his condolences to the Dwyer family saying his office would support an investigation.
The family dispute Bolivian government claims that Mr Dwyer was part of a plot to kill the president.
Michael's mother Caroline met with the Bolivian Ministers in Dublin last night.
“Well I think it is important for my family that the Bolivian visit has been used not only by ourselves, but also the Irish Government has also expressed their concern about Michael’s case,” Mrs Dwyer said.
“And to us it is important that we are getting the support from the Irish Government and that it has been raised at the highest level of the Bolivian authority.”
