'Strike called off too late' says Minister for Transport
The Minister for Transport Paschal Donohoe has said the fact that today's rail strike was called off was of little use to consumers, as they had been forced to make alternative plans.
This morning's three hour stoppage was called off after lengthy talks, at around 4 a.m.
Both sides are heading to the Labour Court and commuters are being assured there will face no more disruption.
Minister Paschal Donohoe has said the late breakthrough will cause annoyance to rail passengers
“First in relation to the annoyance of consumers, I highly agree with you,” Mr Donohoe said.
“I think that the fact that the rail strike was called off this morning afforded precious little relief to any commuter because the vast amount of people who were planning on using the rail service this morning had made alternative plans.”
