Research predicts greater childhood survival from Cystic Fibrosis

The number of Irish people with Cystic Fibrosis who live into adulthood will increase to 65% in the next ten years.

It is forecast that the number of Irish children with the disease will grow by more than a fifth during that time.

The new research carried out across Europe by Queen's University in Belfast shows that CF will become a disease predominantly of adults rather than children for the first time.

Ireland has by far the largest incidence of cystic fibrosis on the continent.
