Met Éireann issues two weather warnings

Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings across the country until tomorrow.

The weather forecaster has put a Status Orange alert in place for exposed western coasts - with winds expected to gust up to 110kmph.

A Status Yellow wind warning has also been issued for all of Ireland - with southwest winds predicted to reach average speeds of around 46kmph.

Both warnings are valid until 9am tomorrow morning.

Meteorologist Gerry Murphy says once the wind weather warnings have been lifted, there is also the possibility of light snow showers tomorrow and on Tuesday.

"Well it's very windy across the country at the moment in general and it's going to continue that way through the rest of today," he said.

"After that, [the] very windy weather clears away overnight and in the morning, we'll then be into colder air, and these colder conditions will generate some snow flurries, possibly tomorrow night (Monday night) and on Tuesday."
