Bomb threat made against Minister's office
A bomb threat was made against the office of the Environment Minister, Alan Kelly, in Tipperary this morning.
Kelly, who is the Minister who is mainly tasked with overseeing Irish Water, branded bomb threats made in a phone-call to his Tipperary office "shocking, appalling and disgraceful".
A spokesman for Mr Kelly has confirmed the report.
Shortly after 9am this morning a female member of staff at the Minister's Nenagh office took a call from a woman.
It is alleged the woman was abusive from the outset and made several threats regarding bombs and locations.
Minister Kelly and his staff have given detailed statements about the incident to Gardaí in Nenagh and an investigation is underway.
Minister Aodhan O’Riordain told stand-in host Keelin Shanley on RTÉ’s Today that the staff member was upset after receiving the call.
He said: "What happened this morning to Alan Kelly, what has happened in my office, what happened on Saturday is not democratic protest. It is mob rule.
"People are entitled to protest - but there is a line and it has been crossed."
