Nurse 'pushed mother against wall, but did not mean to kill her'

A nurse accused of murdering her mother in Dublin on Christmas Eve 2010 told gardaí she pushed her hard against a wall but did not mean to kill her.

Greta Dudko of Station Court Hall, Clonsilla in Dublin claims their relationship turned sour after her mother accused her husband of cheating on her.

Gardaí responding to a 999 call from Greta Dudko's husband found Anna Butautiene's lifeless body lying on a bed in the apartment on Christmas Day 2010.

Ms Dudko was arrested and admitted shoving her mother up against a wall during a fight the night before.

She told gardaí she was acting in self defence and did not mean to kill her. She claimed her mother was trying to ruin her marriage by accusing her husband of having an affair.

The 36-year-old Lithuanian has pleaded guilty to manslaughter but this was not accepted by the DPP.

Jurors will resume hearing evidence on Monday.
