Survey: Charities damaged by recent scandals
Charities have been affected by the ongoing revelations about a number of organisations, according to Fundraising Ireland.
The association for professional fundraisers has said charities could be struggling to find new donors, but existing donors have increased their contributions.
Two surveys by Fundraising Ireland show a drop of 11%, or nearly 400,000 people, in the numbers who said that they gave to a charity in the past month.
Just 52% of people said they had donated to charity, compared to 63% in 2013.
At the same time the value of donations is up slightly, with those who are donating giving higher amounts.
