Trial set for former Anglo officials

Three former Anglo officials have been sent forward for trial charged with revenue offences.

Three former Anglo Irish Bank officials have been sent forward for trial charged with revenue offences.

The alleged offences took place while they were working in the former bank over a decade ago.

Tiernan O'Mahoney, Anglo's former Head of Treasury, was the first to be arrested in connection with this investigation by the Garda fraud squad.

His former colleague, Bernard Daly from Collins Avenue West in Whitehall, was arrested a week after O'Mahoney was brought before the courts and just over a fortnight ago another former official, Aoife Maguire of Rothe Abbey, South Circular Road, Kilmainham, was charged as well.

They are facing a variety of offences under the Taxes Consolidation Act and the Companies Act which allegedly took place on dates between 2003 and 2004.

The trio were handed books of evidence today during a District Court appearance and told their cases will be dealt with by a higher court.

The DPP has directed trial by judge and jury with all three being remanded on bail to appear before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court next month.

The court has already heard that these cases are not factually connected to the ongoing trial of three former executives of the defunct bank.
