Ireland's refugee acceptance rate lower than European counterparts

Ireland is not accepting as many refugees as its European counterparts.
That is the claim being made by the Irish Refugee Council who said that the latest European statistics on asylum show Ireland has the third lowest rate in the EU.
According to their figures 10% of cases were granted status on their first try, with just 6.8% success on appeal.
The total percentage of positive decisions was 8.3% compared with 34% in Portugal and 39% in the UK.
Only Greece, Cyprus and Luxembourg had lower acceptance rates.
Sue Conlan, CEO of the Irish Refugee Council, is critical of the results.
