Man arrested in connection with McKay murder

A 25-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Daniel McKay.

He was detained in Antrim and taken to the PSNI serious crime suite for further questioning.

A police spokeswoman said: “Detectives from serious crime branch have this morning arrested a 25-year-old man in Antrim in connection with the murder of Daniel McKay in Newtownabbey area. He has been taken to Antrim serious crime suite for questioning.”

Mr McKay, a 36-year-old father of one, was shot dead at his home in the nationalist Longlands estate in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, on October 25.

The detective leading the murder hunt said they were investigating a possible drug link and could not rule out the involvement of dissident republican paramilitary groups.

Nine people have been arrested in connection with the shooting but no one has been charged.
