Further support for Target workers; SF criticise government

Politicians are coming out in support of almost 400 former workers at Target Express who lost their jobs after the company stopped trading on Monday.

The staff were briefed today by the provisional liquidator, appointed to the company by the High Court overnight.

Both the housing minsiter Jan O'Sullivan and the communications minister Pat Rabbitte have said the treatment of the workers is unacceptable.

And Sinn Féin Councillor, Maurice Quinlivan, who met some staff at Target's depot in Limerick today, says all they want is what they're owed.

"They realise their jobs are gone what they're doing now is seeing can they get what they're entitled to as soon as possible.

"You would wonder why the government hasn't grabbed this quickly and try and see if there is a solution instead of liquidating the company for what seems to be a minor sum."
