Man charged in alleged Crumlin Cross 'tiger raid' case
A 32-year-old Dublin man has appeared in court charged with falsely imprisoning a bank worker and his housemate as part of an alleged tiger raid on an AIB branch last year.
Patrick Skelly with an address at Railway Road, Clongriffin has been remanded in custody to appear in court again next Wednesday.
Gardaí believed an armed gang of three men burst into the bank official's house at Deerpark View in Kiltipper on the night of June 22 last year.
His housemate was held hostage while the AIB employee was made to obtain money - believed to be in the region of €200,000 - from the branch in Crumlin Cross where he worked.
One man has already been charged in connection with the raid and today Patrick Skelly appeared in court on two counts of false imprisonment.
He was arrested outside the Mater hospital this morning while awaiting treatment for epilepsy and made no reply when charged after caution at Tallaght garda station.
Judge Denis McLoughlin refused bail after garda objections were raised based on the seriousness of the charges which hold a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
