Government 'like an asylum', says Gormley
Minister for the Environment John Gormley has compared being in Government at this time to going into an asylum.
During a Dáil debate on the IMF/EU loan agreement for Ireland, the Green Party leader warned Opposition leaders of the stress they face should they, as expected, form the next Government after the upcoming General Election.
"When you enter Government during this crisis, you are entering an asylum, believe you me," said Mr Gormley.
"You have to endure the sleepless nights, you have to endure the no-win situation. You will be faced with that lack of choice, and it will eat you up inside, believe you me."
"And I wish you well, I wish you well, but I'm telling you - there’s a lot awaiting you."
