Three arrested in connection with violent attack on Garda

Three people have been arrested and a Garda is being treated for facial injuries in Beaumont Hospital after a violent incident in Dublin overnight.

Two gardaí - a man and a woman - were set upon by a group of people after responding to reports of an incident on Sillogue Road in Ballymun at around 2am.

The group assaulted both gardaí and smashed the windows of a vehicle before further Garda units brought the incident under control.

The female garda was not injured in the attack.

A 16-year-old youth and two men - aged 20 and 18 - were arrested in connection with the incident.

They are due before Dublin District Court later.
