Kenny confident FG can retain European seats

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said he is confident his party can retain its two seats in Ireland East in the upcoming European elections.

Today's Irish Times TNS/MRBI poll shows Fine Gael will hold Mairead McGuinness's seat but is in danger of losing a seat to Labour in the constituency.

The poll puts Labour's Nessa Childers eight points ahead of Fine Gael senator John Paul Phelan.

But speaking in Dublin this morning, party leader Enda Kenny said they will be putting strategies in place to keep the two seats in the constituency.
