Forensic expert places INLA accused in Cork B&B

Fingerprints of two men accused of INLA membership were found in a B&B room in Cork, the Special Criminal Court has heard today.

Neil Myles (aged 54), of no fixed abode, Edward McGarrigle (aged 43), Melmont Gardens, Strabane, Co Tyrone, and John McCrossan (aged 47), Ballycoleman Estate, Strabane, Co Tyrone have all pleaded not guilty to membership the INLA on February 22 last year.

It is the prosecution’s case that the four men were involved in a plot to commit a crime at the house of a man and his family in Cork city.

The court heard that a fingermark lifted from a bin found in a room at the Lancaster Lodge B&B in Cork matched that of Mr McGarrigle’s fingerprints.

The court also heard that a fingermark found on a plate in the bathroom matched that of Mr Myles’ fingerprints.

The trial resumes on Tuesday.
