Gardaí check ATM card in hunt for missing woman
Gardaí are checking to see if a bank card belonging to Anne Corcoran was used by someone else since she went missing 16 days ago.
Inspector Brendan Fogarty, who is leading the investigation into the disappearance of the missing 60-year-old widow said: “We are continuing to follow all lines of inquiry and will be investigating every avenue that is put in front of us — but we cannot confirm that her bank card was used.”
More than 100 volunteers gathered in Kilbrittain at first light this morning to begin their fourth day searching the area.
They were joined by members of the Civil Defence, divisional search teams from West Cork and Kerry and four dog units from Dublin.
As the search got underway, gardaí at the incident room at Bandon Garda Station are continuing to follow all lines of inquiry, although gardaí would not confirm that Mrs Corcoran’s ATM card had been used in recent days.
The volunteers gathered at the parish hall in Kilbrittain this morning and braved the bitter cold as they began their fourth day searching for Anne, who was last seen in Garrettstown on Sunday, January 18.
Volunteers registered with gardaí before being assigned to a search team and taken by bus to the areas surrounding Kilbrittain village that will be searched until dusk.
Insp. Fogarty said: “Early on Monday, January 19, Anne spoke with a friend on the phone, but has not made any contact with friends or family since and we are extremely concerned for her welfare.
“We have had an excellent response from the public, but there is someone out there who has valuable information and I would ask them to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bandon garda station in strictest confidence on (023) 52200.
