Cocaine-smuggling sisters jailed

Two sisters, who concealed over £60,000 (€71,099) of cocaine internally in an attempt to smuggle it into the North, have been jailed for a total of five and a half years today following an investigation by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Two sisters, who concealed over £60,000 (€71,099) of cocaine internally in an attempt to smuggle it into the North, have been jailed for a total of five and a half years today following an investigation by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Siegnette (aged 26) and Siegnerella Flaneur (aged 22), both from the Netherlands, were arrested on arrival at Belfast International Airport in April this year after they were stopped by officers from UK Border Agency (UKBA). They were taken to a local hospital where 406 grammes of cocaine were later seized.

Siegnerella Flaneur was sentenced to two and a half years and Siegnette Flaneur for three years.
