McAleese to begin three-day state visit to Romania

President Mary McAleese is due to begin a three-day state visit to Romania today.

McAleese will be accompanied by her husband, as well as Social Affairs Minister Mary Hanafin.

She is due to meet the Romanian president and prime minister during an official ceremony at the Cotroceni palace tomorrow.

She will also be conferred with an honorary professorship at the University of Cluj during her trip.
