The Consumers Association says a different approach is needed if we are to tackle the problem of rising fuel prices.

A new survey by the AA reveals that the price of petrol has jumped by 13% in the last eight months and diesel has increased by as much as 30%.

The group is calling on the Government to seriously consider slashing fuel tax to help ease the burden on consumers.

But Chief Executive Dermot Jewell says we also need to be more efficient when it comes to fuel consumption.
