Gardaí in Limerick have discovered a body on waste ground in the city this morning while conducting searches in related to two shootings during the weekend.

Gardaí in Limerick have discovered a body on waste ground in the city this morning while conducting searches in related to two shootings during the weekend.

The remains were discovered just after midday near Caledonian Park.

The find was made by detectives investigating the murder of 40-year-old Mark Maloney on Saturday afternoon.

Two firearms and ammunition were also recovered during the searches and have been sent for examination.

Gardaí have not revealed the age and gender of the deceased person, but have appealed for information from anyone who was in the area in the past two days.
