Passenger's leg broken after coach overturns
A passenger's leg was broken when an airport coach overturned today in Co Cork.
Aircoach said icy roads conditions contributed to one its vehicles going off the road as it travelled between Dublin and Cork.
Six passengers and the driver were travelling in the coach at the time, with most escaping uninjured.
"It is believed that one has a suspected broken leg and no other injuries have been reported at this time," said a company spokeswoman.
"The relevant services were called immediately to attend to the incident.
"Aircoach is working with the authorities to identify the cause of the incident, early indications suggest that the icy road conditions played a key part in this morning's incident."
The accident happened shortly after 9am at Michelstown and the road has since reopened.
Gardaí confirmed they are also investigating the incident on the N8.
Elsewhere, motorists travelling southbound on the M50 faced delays when a truck overturned just past the M1.
The vehicle, which is blocking the right-hand lane, is not likely to be cleared before 4.30pm.
As a result traffic remains heavy at the M1/M50 roundabout.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area, particularly later coming into evening rush hour," said an AA spokesperson.
Meanwhile, gardaí have named the victims of two road collisions in Dublin and Co Kildare.
Marian Ionescu, 28, of Parnell Street, Dublin, died in a car crash in Gorteen in Castledermot yesterday and 50-year-old Daru Coldea, from Islandbridge in Dublin, was killed in a collision in Santry Demesne on Monday.
