Trial of men accused of murdering nightclub bouncer on hold

The trial of four men accused of murdering a nightclub bouncer in Limerick City five years ago has been put off until next Monday.

It was due to go ahead before the Central Criminal Court in Cloverhill today.

The four men - 24 year old Gary Campion of Pineview Gardens in Moyross, Limerick, John and Dessie Dundon, who are in their 20s and both from Ballinacurra, Weston, Co. Limerick, and 50 year old Clare man Anthony Kelly, with an address in Killrush - all deny killing 34-year-old Brian Fitzgerald.

The nightclub bouncer was shot dead outside his home in Corbally on the 29th of November 2002 as he returned from work.

A jury of 12 men was sworn in yesterday, and today they were told by Mr. Justice Peter Charlton that they should not read any crime reports during the trial.

One of the jurors was excused so he could continue his work for Trocaire, and a new member will be sworn in tomorrow.
